We typically connect our devices to a personal hot-spot running on a mobile phone, though a portable router ( for example this one) works great. Network setupīoth Quests have to be on the same Wi-Fi network. To do a separate space setup, you can repeat the above co-location procedure, but there’s no real need to worry about getting the play spaces oriented the same way. This is a much easier setup, as it is not necessary for both Quests to be turned on in the same spot or direction. The other method of setting up Space Pirate Arena is to have both players in their own separate play space.
When the guardian is set up, stand back on the intersection of the center service and service lines (X in the diagram above), and staring towards the net (Y) press and hold the right Oculus touch controller for 2 seconds to ensure the room is rotated in the correct way. To ensure quality tracking data, try walking close to the perimeter of the 10x10m play space (for example along the green line in the tennis court above) as you draw the Quest guardian, as though you are painting the perimeter walls with a laser pointer aimed just in front of your feet. First set the floor level, and now make the maximum possible space, which will be a square more or less exactly 10x10m. When the Quest boots it will ask you to create a guardian. If the player moves during this phase there is a chance that the room scale guardian limits will be rotated incorrectly, so it’s very important that they stand at point X, and stare to point Y while turning on the Quest. Standing here, and staring down the center service line towards the net, the first Quest is placed on your head, and then staring straight ahead and keeping still, the player turns the Quest on and waits for it to boot - continually staring straight the whole time.
