Do not be fooled by their awkward gait - their solid bodies can not be harmed easily, and any enemy. It is said that when the first Elves ventured into the heart of the primordial forest, they found the Treants there, waiting for them and ready to vow their undying loyalty. It is to this end, inclusion and celebration, that Prismatica Magazine was created. Living embodiments of the forest themselves, Treants have left the deep woods at the bidding of the most powerful druids. This is particularly dear to the hearts of the Prismatica team as our own experiences have shown us that these genres in particular are where the LGBTQ community can often feel left out. Though perhaps most importantly, every piece of fiction is meant to let anyone and everyone on the LGBTQ spectrum feel welcome within the genres of fantasy and science-fiction. The stories found within the magazine often push the boundaries or feature raw emotions and complex themes. Every member of our small staff fits somewhere on the LGBTQ spectrum, all of whom are fully dedicated to nurturing a community where everyone of all walks of life can feel included in genre fiction. After this introduction to the publishing world we realized the need for a community of LGBTQ writers, focused primarily on genre fiction. Our grassroots literary magazine was created after Lazy Adventurer Publishing’s initial foray in to publishing with Creative Realms Magazine. Prismatica Magazine was started by Chandra Montez, who acts as the magazine’s editors-in-chief. We happily include magical realism, contemporary science-fiction, urban fantasy, and more. In the magazine’s stories and poems, readers can find fantasy and science-fiction of all sub-genres and cross-genres. Prismatica features short fiction and poetry from emerging and established LGBTQ authors. The magazine has its beginnings in June of 2018 and is currently open for submissions. The installation is created by RAW Design, a Toronto-based architectural firm which put together a team of 30 architects and designers from several fields like applied science, technology, art and architecture to bring Prismatica to life. Prismatica is a kaleidoscopic art experience that consists of 25 pivoting rainbow prisms that stand at more than 6 ft tall.
